A Russian passenger plane suffered a runway excursion upon landing. It struck a military transport plane, which was carrying 34 student of a military academy.
Both aircraft burst into flames.
A total of 70 people reportedly died. The number of fatalities on board each aircraft is estimated. Given the number of fatalities, the aircraft types involved were probably Lisunov Li-2 or Ilyushin 12.
The Aeroflot airplane was operating on a flight from Odessa to Moscow with an intermediate stop at Tula. The military transport was preparing for a flight to Berlin, Germany.
