Narrative:On 15 May, 1973, a large bird was ingested into the starboard engine, resulting in an in-flight fire. Reported by one source as being a herring gull, and the accident taking place at 1,100 feet agl, and 450 knots IAS. F-111E 68-0008 crashed in western Scotland 21 nautical miles North North East of Machnhanish, near Skipness, Mull of Kintyre, Scotland. Pilot Capt. Andrew J. Peloquin and WSO. Major Ariel Alvarez ejected safely
