Narrative:The Liberator was being flown on a series of climb tests when the starboard outer engine over-speeded and caught fire.
Wing Commander J.M. MGuire AFC, OC of the Performance Testing Squadron of the A&AEE, ordered his crew to abandon the aircraft which they did successfully.
However the Liberator broke up before Wg Cdr McGuire could escape and he was killed.
