YR-BTM Aerospatiale AS350B-4 c/n 4542; Registered 10-Oct-08 to S.C. Dunca Expediţii S.A. To S.C. Mir Aero S.R.L. by 09-Mar-12; written off 29-Jul-13 at (into) Taureni Lake, Mures County, Romania; killing 5 of 6 on board (3 German businessmen, Sorin Terbea (the helicopter owner), and the pilot; Sorin Terbea’s assistant was the sole survivor).
3.2 Causes of accident occurrence
The most likely cause of the accident occurrence is incorrect assessment of height from the water surface or the pilot’s physical incapacity of reaction. Favoring causes:
a) stress condition, temporary physical incapacity;
b) not using the safety belts systems that the helicopter seats were equipped with;
c) twilight flight over the water.
