The aircraft departed Vigan (RPUQ) for a 140km (75nm) flight to San Fernando (RPUS) at 0724Z 21 October 2016 with two occupants on board the C172. A third of the way through the flight, over Santiago cove, the aircraft's right wing made contact with an unmarked zipline 50 to 70 meters above the surface. The aircraft then crashed into the sea.

Retrieval divers confirmed the deaths of John Kaizan Estabillo and Paula Biance Robles, who were still in the cockpit of the crashed aircraft when they located the wreckage below the surface of the water.
