Narrative:
Lockheed Hudson Mk.I P5117 "ZS-S" of 233 Squadron RAF, written off (destroyed) 5.10.40. The crew was engaged in a reconnaissance mission over the North Sea. En route, due to the deterioration of the weather conditions, the pilot lost his orientation and decided to return to his base. Eventually, the crew abandoned the aircraft over the North Sea, with the automatic pilot engaged, and bailed out.

Without a pilot, the twin engine aircraft dove into the ground and crashed in a field at Oxford Farm, located between Scremerston and Ancroft, Northumberland.

Search And Rescue did not find any trace of the four crew members who were considered as deceased as they probably fallen into the sea and have been drowned.
