The aircraft landed gear-up at Ecuvillens Airfield (LSGE), Hauterive, Freiburg.
The pilot was not injured.
The situation after the accident shows that in any case the final check points for the landing were not carried out and that the retracted or barely extended landing gear was therefore not noticed, which leads to the assumption that the pilot was exposed to an unusually high level of stress during his second approach.
Apart from the non-functioning aural warning of the landing gear, investigations of the aircraft did not reveal any evidence of pre-existing technical defects. There was no indication that the landing gear retraction and extension mechanism had failed to function.
The low level of flight training on this type of aircraft in the months prior to the accident and the faulty landing gear warning horn contributed to the accident.
