On 3 March 2021 at 1558Z, a pilot accompanied by two crew members on-board a Hawker 4000 with registration markings ZS-DDT departed Cape Town International Airport (FACT) with the intention to land at Plettenberg Bay Airport (FAPG), before routing to Lanseria Airport (FALA). The pilot reported that the aircraft’s touch down was normal in the first quarter of the runway at FAPG.
However, the thrust reversers delayed in deploying, and braking seemed reduced. Approximately halfway down the runway, the pilot applied brakes from the right-side seat, but the brakes were not effective (as per normal), which resulted in the aircraft overrunning the runway after landing, stopping a few metres from the runway’s edge at FAPG.
