The engine of McDonnell Douglas F-15C 81-0049, of the 32nd TFS, callsign "Cagey 21", caught fire and the aircraft crashed in the North Sea 9 miles off Spurn Head, East Riding of Yorkshire.
Pilot ejected and survived.
