c/no.6464: Taken on charge by RAF as R5927 under Contract 21547/39 at 2 Electrical & Wireless School, RAF Yatesbury, Wiltshire 18.10.39; renamed 2 Signals School 26.8.40.

Written off when struck balloon cable and crashed and destroyed by fire Wiggins Field, Horton, near Colnbrook, Buckinghamshire 14.2.42; all 6 on board killed. Casualties named as

Corporal (W/Op) Kenneth B. HORWOOD (Service Number 638404, aged 22)
AC2 (W/Op/Air-gunner under training) Kenneth Ivan OLIVER (Service Number 1380981, aged 19)

All six deaths formally recorded at Eton Coroners Court as "killed on active service" in February 1942. In addition to all six crew on board, a civilian on the ground, Mr. Gordon Eric Ellis, was killed by flying debris from the DH.89A. Aircraft Struck off charge 14.3.42
