Narrative:The engine of the Malibu stoped during flight and the pilot decided to make an emergency landing during night in a field. During the landing the gear collapsed and the Malibu collided with a car in which 4 people were sitting. One of the 4 people in the car was substantial injured and the car and the Malibu were destroyed.
Cause:
When the Piper Malibu's fuel tanks each contain 22 gallons of fuel, the surface cannot be seen through the filler opening.
The accident was caused by a collision with obstacles during a crash landing following an engine shutdown due to improper fuel management.
